Macau Part II
Ooh, almost a fortnight since I last updated. Slipped my mind, sorry! Had my mind on other more important things. Like the JPA Scholarship interview which I sat for - completely unprepared - yesterday afternoon. Of course the interview turned out to be a total disaster.
My brain was being obstinately blank and it refused to think of any impressive answers. I stuttered so much, and couldn't control my hands. LOL. Major flunk! It didn't help that my teammates were all totally smart. Boohoo. I want to cringe and hide under the table everytime I recall what I said (or think I said, I don't really remember) yesterday.
Alright, no need to cry over spilled milk!
16 March 2011
Second day of my Macau trip! Hopefully I'll be able to keep this post short and sweet. Pretty unlikely but I'll try!
Woke up and went to the Mistral restaurant for breakfast.

Not that you can see anything here but the restaurant overlooks the gorgeous hotel swimming pool. Wasn't fortunate enough to get window seats, most of them were reserved, blah.

Mini macarons!
Ooh, those macarons were so repulsively sweet! That still didn't stop me from having three, though. Hahaha. Disgustingly sweet, but still tasty. Hmm. Hope it makes sense. Loved the gooey filling in the middle!

The buffet had quite a variety of food, I suppose. The usual bread and pastries, pancakes with many different types of toppings to choose from, an array of cheese, pasta, fruits, yoghurts, a thousand and one types of veggies, baconsausagemushroomseggs blah blah blah.
Personally I don't care much for variety, as long as the food taste good!
The breakfast there was quite yummy, my cousin and I loved the scrambled eggs (I'm a sucker for scrambled eggs) and sauteed mushrooms. I absolutely loved the tea they served too, though I have no idea what tea it was.
The dim sum was totally horrible though. Yuck.
Oops, short and sweet. Right!
We walked to the A-ma Temple after breakfast. It's a longer walk than compared to the walk to St. Paul's Ruins. Should take around 20 minutes or so.

Didn't take much photos there, had a blister on my foot due to the slingback on my new wedge shoe, and was feeling totally pissed. Luckily I had a pair of flat sandals with me! Haha I go everywhere well-prepared.

Pretty leafless trees
Went to the Macau Tower after that. No, wait. Not after that. Thanks to my dear guy-cousin who felt cold because he didn't (not forgot! He assumed that he could withstand the cold) bring his jacket along, we had to walk all the way back to the hotel so that he could grab his jacket. Blah.
Bought some warm milk tea from the K convenient store outside Sofitel. The milk tea was really, REALLY yummy!! There was a very fragrant smell to it that I couldn't quite place. No one, NO ONE makes milk tea like that here! Wonder what was it that they added to theirs to make the tea so tasty. Eeeee.

View from the 58th floor of the Macau Tower
Didn't find the view very impressive or anything but I suppose it was something different, not so many skyscrapers, and more old buildings (like Penang). Especially hated how yellow the sea was (can be seen in the photo of me lying down below). Arrgh reminded me of muddy puddles of water at construction sites.

Hahaha yes I know the floor has been stepped on by 291031940 people. Pretty thrilling to walk and stare through the glass at the same time, vertigo-inducing! For me, at least. :P
61st floor is for the brave and adventurous! You can bungee jump from the tower and do many other scary but exhilarating things. Not for people like me.

Lip-shaped sofa. Cute!

Oh, aren't you just PROUD to be Malaysian (if you are one)!! Seeee! Our KL Tower (on the left) is in the list! Haha!
We took a cab to the Fisherman's Wharf after that.

Ooh, a fake Colosseum!

It kind of looks like the set of Harry Potter right! KIND OF. The arches. Haha.

Aladdin's Fort at the back
Not sure what's inside! Maybe some theme park? Casinos? *shrugs*

The Sands Hotel and Casino (that hideous building with gold-tinted windows) at the back.
Nothing much to see there at the Fisherman's Wharf, it was quite desolate. Great place for taking photos, I guess, with many old-style buildings.

The Babylon Casino

Had to wear sunglasses because it was SO windy, and the wind made my eyes dry. Didn't help that I was wearing contact lenses. The wind felt really cool and good though!

Had lunch at the McDonald's, of all things. I just had a few fries and a big mug of hot chocolate, wasn't that hungry after my heavy breakfast.
There is this thing called Taro Pie (which is yam, I think) at the McDonald's there, which is just DELICIOUS. My aunt absolutely loved it, I think she had 3 or 4 during the trip. Haha. Pity they don't sell those here!
We also went into the Sands Casino and had a free drink or two, hahaha. The casino is reaaaaally huge. And there were quite a lot of people. Gambling! Burning away their money! I don't see the appeal with gambling, which is a good thing! I'd much rather spend the money on some gorgeous designer shoes! Hahaha.
Then, we took a cab to the Lou Lim Ioc Lotus Gardens.

What I called the Mini Central Park of Macau. =.=

A very tranquil, serene place, and I'm guessing, a favourite hangout for the senior citizens of the area.

Giant bird of paradise on a ... fan tree?
Forgot the name of the tree in English, do know that it's called 芭蕉樹 in Chinese though! (and no I'm not going to search for it in Google again, not this time hahaha)

Beauty in the park AHAHAHAA
Just a joke, just a joke!!!

There, the famed lotus of the Lou Lim Ioc LOTUS Garden.
LOOOL. So pathetic! All dead!! How awful. They should do something about it!

Exquisite, vividly-coloured flowers in full bloom
I know they look like bougainvilleas from a distance. But they're not, they're far more beautiful. And these flowers, I have no idea what they're called, in English and Chinese. Hahaha.

HAHAHA seems that I like making a fool of myself in public. Tsk tsk.
WALKED (yes, walked) back to our hotel from the garden. Not a very short walk, I can tell you. Asked around for directions and most people said it's a 15-minute walk from the garden to the Ruins of St.Paul's. Maybe it was because my feet were hurting that I thought it felt more like 30 minutes. LOL. And we still had to walk back to our hotel from the ruins. Zzzz.

A very crowded Senado's Square. Probably because the weather was nice! :)
Okay. End of this post! Will continue with Part Two and a Half soon, hopefully. Hahaha.
Ta!
