Langkawi Part 2

17 December 2010

Continued from the previous post! :)

So, arrived at Langkawi at around 5.00 pm. I think.

The weather suddenly changed and rain started pelting down, hard. Totally spoiled my view of the many interesting islands around Langkawi (or are they part of Langkawi?) through the scratched windows of the ferry.

Still, I suppose we were considered lucky since the rain only fell when we were traveling around in the ferry and on the bus.

After a long and tedious journey of about 45 minutes to an hour, we finally reached the Berjaya Resort. By the time, the rain had been reduced to just a minor drizzle. Awesome or what? Hahaha.

My aunt was actually planning to stay at Westin Resort for both nights, but since my guy-cousin wanted to ... uh, bond with Nature and mingle with the many fascinating creatures that (allegedly) inhabited the forest surrounding the on-land chalets .... well, that was how we ended up staying at a resort soooo far away from everywhere else, except for the Cable Car place. Which was a good thing I guess.

The lobby of Berjaya Resort.

Deco was a bit more of the ... traditional kind. I suppose it was quite ... uh, you know, friendly and warm-looking, not like those posh places where you daren't even sit down for fear of breaking or dirtying the chairs.

Alright, I don't want to embarrass myself further by attempting to describe the deco, ambience, etc of the resort. Haha.

The resort had all these shuttles to take you to your own chalet (since the resort grounds is really huge) and to some other places like the Thai restaurant or the Oriental Village (where the Cable Car station is located).

The gorgeous Christmas tree and deco in the lobby!

There was this Christmas-themed shoe house as well. And an almost edible-looking gingerbread (my assumption haha) house with mini reindeers, snowflakes, trees and stuff stuck onto its walls.

Didn't manage to get any photos though.

View from the balcony of our mini chalet.

Our chalet was nestled between thick green trees, and was pretty high up, so we could see the sea in the distance, and the hills of the island even further back.

I really liked the shapes of the hills and everything, they were so picturesque, and photographed so well. :P

Photos are a bit blurry due to the rain.

Our room!

It was extremely tiny. Simple and pleasant, but tiny. And there were 5 of us. I felt very guilty all the time because if I didn't tag along with them (my girl-cousin asked me, but still) there wouldn't have been so many transportation problems. Like they could have taken a taxi wherever they wanted to go, easily. I felt like an extra. No, wait. I WAS an extra. LOL.

One great thing about the Berjaya Resort was the ... um, service and efficiency of the staff? Sorry, my English isn't the best. My aunt tried upgrading, but in the end didn't. But after a short while, they sent over an extra foldable bed (a bed, not just a lousy old mattress), extra towels, shampoo and shower gels.

And some of the staff were very amicable and nice!

Went exploring a bit after we bathed and changed.

The swimming pool

The sunken bar

There, finally a photo with our pretty faces!! Guess you were getting bored without seeing a beautiful face or two, eh. Hahaha

Ego issues, ego issues.

(irrelevant note : I love The Saturdays! Ego and Issues are two of their songs, hahahaha)

Camwhore!

Yes, I'm aware of the red pimple-like spot on my nose. I assure you it wasn't a pimple. Weird.

I don't really how I look in the photo above, but I like how my left collarbone (singular, the other one is practically non-existent) stood out, it shows that I have lost a bit of weight, they didn't used to show up before HAHAHAHA. Ahem. Issues.

The chalets on water!

You can see the Thai restaurant at the far end of the photo! See, told you the grounds of the resort is big. And the photo only shows the grounds to the right side of the lobby. To the left side, there was the beach, which stretched for a pretty long distance. And there was a wide mangrove swamp as well.

My aunt really loved those chalets on the water, but, my guy-cousin wanted to bond with Nature and mingle with ...... well, you know the story.

Expression is a bit dumb

Another camwhore shot!! Bugger the red spot. Hahaha.

I don't know why my face was so pink. Or orange.

I don't think it was the Benetint. =.=

Zi Xin & I

We had dinner at the Thai restaurant, forgot the name, which was built on the sea. Had to take the shuttle there.

It was either that or walking ... I think one of the staff said it was ... uh, 1.5 km away from the lobby. Way to make way for more food in your tummy!! :D

The food there was okay, what we ordered anyway, but I still think it wasn't a patch on Penang's Thai food. Never been to Thailand before so can't compare. Haha.

The Thai restaurant here in Penang that my parents love to go to serves tastier food and they are wayyy cheaper (naturally).

I love Thai tom yams., they're wicked!! Perfect combination of sour and spicy. Can't drink them while they're steaming hot though, something's wrong with the ... err, heat receptors on my tongue. Can't bear hot stuff.

Only my uncle and I could drink the soup (he loved it), my aunt and cousins thought the soup to be too spicy. Something must have been wrong with their ... spicy taste buds. Ha-ha.

Photo from cousin's camera

Ordered mocktails. We were (are) underage after all.

My uncle said it was to celebrate our scoring straight As in SPM. Pah. Impossible for me.

Figured that a few more extra calories in the form of dessert wouldn't matter after that sumptuous dinner. LOL.

Millions of fish

Don't worry it's not Nessie's baby HAHA wow I'm being really lame, something's wrong with me.

It was a barracuda, there were three or four (or maybe just two, yes, I know I'm observant), and my uncle and guy-cousin spotted one of them ... uh, attacking the small fish in the first photo. Yummy dinner!

Went for a stroll on the beach after that.

Crappy crab

AHHH COLLARBONES!!!

I'm a happy girl. But hey, I worked for it. Didn't starve myself, didn't take pills, didn't drink slimming milkshakes or whatever it is that people consume nowadays to lose weight.

Also went to explore for a bit with my uncle, two cousins and a torch each, to search for some interesting creatures. Found nothing more intriguing than a lizard haha. Saw squirrels earlier, but they aren't uncommon.

Hmm, in the brochures they said there were macaques (they kill babies!), Nagini's kin (if Nagini is a python), peculiar lizards, and much much more. Maybe the rain drove them all away. Haha, kidding. I wouldn't like to see ANY of those things. But my guy-cousin was pretty disappointed. Hey, can't expect the resort people to let pythons and whatnots slithering around the chalets right! Scary thought.

Okay. End of this post. See, this is such a long post, and it's only about one night. I'm a babbling baboon (without the red bum). Hahaha.

Gosh, what is wrong with me!

Ta!
