Movie Marathon
19 October 2008
So. I had my movie marathon!!
I've only watched about five movies though, but still, for my standards, I suppose that's quite ... impressive already.
I watched (or re-watched) Princess Diaries 1 & 2, The Brothers Grimm, Memoirs of A Geisha, and TROY!!!! Dang, I'm in love with the movie. Soooo in love with the movie.
There might be spoilers below. Might.
(And you not might want to read the rest, because they're all about the movie)

Why do I like the movie so much?
First, the history of the ancient Greece intrigue me. It intrigues me so, so much more than the boring history we have here. And! You just look (listen) to how nice their names of "races" (whatever it is) are! Trojans. Spartans. No Malays. No Chinese. No Indians. Can you see the difference? They just sound different. Much cooler. Like, there's an air of bravery and greatness about them. I don't know. So different.
(Shit I actually sound like a racist bastard)
Second, the sceneries are magnificent. The seas are blue and turquoise, not like the dull grayish-green colour it is here. The buildings, the castles, everything, are just nicer than it is here. Even the buildings which are left from the olden days are nicer. More mysterious. I like mysterious things.
(Actually I don't recall seeing a castle in the movie. Just a palace. But they're the same. Almost.)
Wait. We don't really have castles here do we? I mean, not real ones. Not those tall, built-centuries-ago, stone-made, intimidating castles with thick walls, secret passages, and a high tower looming up against the sky.
Oh I have never mentioned this before! I LOVE SECRET PASSAGES! Not that I've been into any. But I just think they're cool. A bit scary if you're alone though.
AND! The most important of all. The deadly combination of Brad Pitt (Achilles) and Orlando Bloom (Paris) as the main characters are .... well, deadly. And you get to see them half-naked. Or is it completely naked? I can't tell. Either way, I like it. Nice. =P
(They've got gorgeous abs, especially Brad Pitt. I like guys with abs. But not tooo muscly. Like I've said thousands of times before.)
I think Brad Pitt looks hotter with his long blond hair in the movie! Actually I think that's why I like him so much. In real life, when he has short hair, I don't really find him that hot.

Well of course, there's the Prince Hector. (forgot the actor's name, but of course! When there's Brad Pitt or Orlando Bloom, you don't really care about things like that do you?) He's so brave, so fair, so just, so honourable .....

Looook at Brad Pitt's muscles. Ooh. =P
You know, I actually enjoyed watching them fight. Their wars.
Okay, I'm not saying I like wars, but still, I admired the sight. Such bravery, such courage. Such sacrifice. And the poor women whose husbands/boyfriends/brothers/etc are fighting to death in the war ... *sniffs*
But I only like the wars in the movie. I probably will faint if I ever see a real war. (If I don't die first that is) But then it won't be the same anymore, right? There are all these modern weapons nowadays, and probably there won't even be blood anymore, just bodies. It really was interesting, watching how the people wayyyy back in the early days fight.
There are also gorgeous girls in the movie! Helen of Troy (Diane Kruger) of course. And Briseis. I'm so jealous of the two girls. They get to kiss (and more) Orlando and Brad. Unfair. LOL.
I can't help but wonder how the real Helen looks like! She's supposedly so beautiful that she caused war, caused the launching of thousands of ships, et cetera. You get the picture.
And Briseis is the cousin of Hector and Paris. Looks kind of innocent. So cute! And she and Achilles (I love the name! Pronounced as Ah-Kee-Less, something like that) are in loveee!! Aww.
I sort of hate Orlando Bloom (Paris) in the movie, yet his good looks excused him from all his other flaws. Sort of.

He's the one who started the war. He brought Helen, no, more like stole Helen from her husband Menelaus of Sparta back to Troy. And Menelaus wanted revenge. He asked his brother Agamemnon (damn, their names are so cool) to help him out, and since Agamemnon was so power-hungry, they agreed to attack Troy.

Then Paris was so cowardly! While fighting with Menelaus one on one, after he was hurt, he crawled back to his brother Hector and clung to his legs. But still, I supposed he was too young and Menelaus too strong and menacing. (See? Excused.)
AND STUPID PARIS KILLED ACHILLES. Fuck. That was where I cried. And that was exactly where I felt the strong loathing toward Paris. GRARRR. (No excuses for this I really hate him here)
Briseis was almost killed, and Achilles saved her in time. But Paris thought he was trying to kidnap her or something, and shot him with an arrow. Okay. Understatement. Four or five arrows. Even when Briseis was screaming for him to stop.
Maybe Paris wanted revenge as well, as Achilles killed Hector and tied his body to his chariot and dragged him all the way back to his "tent".
The only good thing Paris did was advising his father to burn the wooden horse. Which his father and his followers, priests, whoever they are, ignored. Pooo. The one and only time he did good, he was ignored. WTF.
So sad! SO SAD!! Damn. I don't want Achilles to die. Stupid Paris. Stupid, stupid Paris. Imagine watching your true love being killed by your own cousin. When your true love didn't even do anything wrong.
Well, not really nothing, since Achilles did killed Hector. But he's still a good guy! He didn't join the war to help Agamemnon! And he didn't kill Briseis! And he's fair and honourable! And he did feel sorry toward Priam, King of Troy!
Okay. I'm babbling nonsense. Unless you watched the movie, you won't know what I'm talking about.
Oh, there's also the movie Helen of Troy which I vaguely remember myself watching. A long time ago. I know the Helen and Paris in that movie are also hot. =P
**********
Anyway, now PMR is over, everything feels a little empty. =(
I can't watch movies and play piano everyday. I can't. Sigh. Maybe I'll watch Troy again. Hahaha. Ogle at the hot people. Marvel at the beauty of the setting.
Eh I do so like those old stories, legends and mysteries! Like King Arthur and his Round Table. Interesting, don't you think?
Obviously, King Arthur is the next movie I'm going to watch. And Keira Knightley is in it! I've always liked her since I watched Pirates of Caribbean. I watched this movie before, too, but I couldn't remember a thing.
And I DO think hot actors and actresses are very very important in a movie. =D Of course a good storyline is a must, too.
Fish, I'm so ... dumb. I'm stating the obvious. Who'd like a movie with a bad storyline? WHO?!
Okay, I'm going towatch Troy again do something else. I don't know what. Read Twilight again. Play games. I'll find something.
Toodles!
